Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

Refrigerants are liquids stored in your air conditioner’s coils that cool and dehumidify indoor air. If there weren’t refrigerants, there wouldn’t be air conditioning. Over the years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, it will be illegal to produce R-22 because of its damage to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo reduce environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and doesn’t contain chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel good about using this refrigerant in Crestview because it’ll help make your cooling system work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and provide the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately out of production. The old refrigerant will become hard to find in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Gordon Air Conditioning work with R-410A, so you can be sure we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Additionally, steer clear of”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
