Geothermal, simply the
best in home comfort.
This home was
substantially larger than the current home the Hathorn's
had. The emphasis was on the lowest possible power bill with
the highest possible comfort. Being in Florida, humidity was
a concern. All requirements the Hathorn's were concerned
with led back to a WaterFurnace geothermal heating and
cooling system.
A WaterFurnace geothermal heating/cooling system was
installed with hot water recovery. This system has a
two-speed compressor and 12-speed DC motor for highest
comfort and efficiency. It will run as a four ton on maximum
home comfort demand or as a 2½ ton when lower demands are
placed. According to the U.S. Department of Energy,
geothermal systems can save 30-60% off monthly heating and
cooling costs. Hot water recovery provides free domestic hot
water with two 50-gallon Marathon water heaters being used
when free hot water isn't available from the geothermal
system. The Marathon water heaters are sealed foam and
plastic cylinders with no seams and has a lifetime warranty.
Three zones where used for maximum comfort and efficiency -
the home theater, guest bedroom, and gym on one zone, the
main living area and billiard room on the middle zone, and
the master suite on the third zone. Each zone has it's own
thermostat and return ducting with the interior wall's wet
cellulous insulation separating the zones. Programmable
thermostats were installed in all zones for automatic
setback.
The total job included a WaterFurnace P045 four ton
geothermal system with hot water assist. A 10 year warranty
on labor, parts, and compressor was included. Intellizone
controls all three zones with programmable thermostats and
individual returns. WaterFurnace Geolink looping was used
giving a 55 year warranty on manufacture defects on the
loop. Complete energy analysis and heat load/loss
calculation was performed to assure return on investment.
Additional value was added in the total WaterFurnace
approach with all thermostats, flow center, geolink loops,
hose kit, Intellizone zone board, zone dampers, and
geothermal unit all being from WaterFurnace with a factory
trained dealer overseeing the home comfort system was a
large part of making the Hathorn's feel good about their
investment.
